Length: 4hr

The Agenda Setting and Reflection workshop is a pedagogic workshop created for educators to implement effective teaching strategies that ensure student-centred lesson planning and accountability in the classroom .Participants will engage in a hands on workshop that introduces “I CAN” teaching protocols. I CAN teaching protocols are based off of a 4 step design-thinking framework called FIDS (Feel, Imagine, Do, Share) that works to cultivate a growth-mindset within students.  The program offers teaching protocols that benefit day-to-day classroom instruction, classroom management and making learning visible. Participants can look forward to reflecting upon their own educational experience, be it student or teacher, and learn new teaching best practices related to ownership and accountability. This program will demonstrate that agenda setting and reflection are effective tools for students, parents and teachers. By the conclusion of the workshop, participants will come to understand how Agenda Setting and Reflection works to empower students and teachers to collaborate and co-create learning. Finally, educators will get to see how these protocols allow for students to feel a sense of ownership and responsibility over their own learning, and how Agenda Setting and Reflection time are excellent opportunities for students to produce language in the classroom.
